Meet Our Team

The goal of Chou Law Group is to provide consistent and excellent service. Every member of our firm believes in this goal and gives their all. We have detailed procedures with redundancy to follow this goal and we make every decision with focus and intensity to further this goal. DAVID CHOU, PARTNER

EXPERIENCE: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION DEFENSE

David immigrated to the United States from Taiwan at the age of 11. He spent much of his teens selling toys on weekends at swap meets throughout southern California. He was a deejay during the early part of his time UC San Diego, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology.

He went on to work in bio-tech research at the Salk Institute. David then served in the United States Army as an operating room technician at Walter Reid Army Medical Center. After his service, he earned his JD from Loyola Law School. During law school, David interned at law firms focusing on intellectual property matters, including medical patent litigation as well trademark prosecution.

David entered the field of Workers’ Compensation in 2003 and worked several years for a state-wide defense firm, before branching off in 2009. David’s background in medical science has enhanced his ability to process and organize complex medical and legal concepts. His insight and experience have led to notable major success in litigation, as well as solid client loyalty.

David’s birthday is on Valentine’s day. As such he has never fully celebrated either. He lives in north Orange County with his wife and two sons.

SCOTT ARAMAKI, PARTNER

EXPERIENCE: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION DEFENSE

Scott was born in Seattle. He spent some time in Hawaii before returning to Seattle. He attended UC Riverside for undergrad and went to UC Hastings for law school.
After law school, Scott spent 2 years as a professional poker player, before starting his legal career in civil litigation for an insurance defense firm.

Scott used this opportunity to sharpen his negotiating and litigation skills in complex arbitrations and trials. It was here that Scott gained experience in matters of carrier guidelines, reporting and litigation policies, and the evaluation of exposure and settlement in the context of insurance claims.

In 2003, Scott started in the Workers’ Compensation field by working for a state-wide law firm. His work ethic and dedication in the ensuing 6 years have earned the consistent support of clients.

Scott joined the firm in 2010 and started managing the San Jose office in 2010, thereafter becoming a partner in 2015.

Scott has promoted an environment of teamwork with clients, and has continued to put forth the dedicated, hands-on attention to detail that meets the needs of our clients in this ever-changing field.

DAVID WU, PARTNER

EXPERIENCE: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION DEFENSE

David D. Wu Graduated from UC San Diego with double major degrees in political science and Chinese Studies. He earned his JD from Santa Clara University School of Law. While in law school, David interned for Yahoo, Inc. and an international law firm focusing on intellectual property matters including trademark infringement and copyright law.

After getting his license, David obtained significant experience in corporate law, working on anti-trust cases being scrutinized by the Federal Trade Commission during mergers and acquisitions. These experiences helped him hone his writing and verbal skills and have taught him to be thorough and detail-oriented.

David entered the field of Workers’ Compensation In 2007 and joined a state-wide defense firm. During this period, David Developed a reputation for aggressive litigation during the life of the claim. David acquired the necessary skills to handle complex cases, including prompt responses, creative settlement negotiations, and doctor depositions.

David has been with the firm since 2011, and he became a partner of Chou Law Group in 2019. He shares with the rest of the firm an appreciation of client objectives and to align it with his case handling. In his free time, he enjoys camping and traveling with his wife and two children.

ANDREW LAM, ATTORNEY

EXPERIENCE: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION DEFENSE

Andrew Lam was born on New Year’s Day. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame In 2004 with a degree in economics. He earned his J.D in 2007 from UC Hastings College of Law. While in law school, Andrew was an extern for Justice Timothy A. Reardon of the California Courts of Appeal, assisting in drafting opinions on criminal and civil matters.

After passing the bar, Andrew eventually returned to Orange County and began his career in Workers’ Compensation defense at a boutique firm. During this period, he gained invaluable experience representing insurance companies and self-insured employers, at various venues in both northern and southern California.

Andrew joined the firm in 2011 looking to further his practical experience in Workers’ Compensation defense. Andrew draws on his past practical experiences, but also works in a collaborative manner to serve various clients. Andrew is a capable and experienced attorney with the dedication and work ethic to handle all kinds of claims.

Andrew is involved extensively in jujitsu and enjoys spending time with his new family and young son.

MATTHEW KECES, ATTORNEY

EXPERIENCE: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION DEFENSE

Matthew graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in Social Science, earning Magna Cum Laude distinction. He then studied at the University of San Diego School of Law and was a member of the Law Review.

After law school, Matthew worked in Japan as an in-house counsel for a global logistics company. He returned to the United States with the company but later moved on as general counsel for a construction and industrial material supply company, before starting in Workers’ Compensation defense. Matthew joined the firm in 2015.

Matthew is an experienced practitioner in the Workers’ Compensation field and skilled in the defense of claims on behalf of third-party administrators, insurance carriers, and self-insured employers, including claims for Serious and Willful Misconduct and Labor Code § 132a violations.

Matthew takes a proactive approach in line with each client’s interest to resolve cases in a timely and efficient manner. In his spare time, he enjoys surfing.

HANNA SIDDIQUI, ATTORNEY

EXPERIENCE: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION DEFENSE

Hanna Siddiqui graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She then earned her JD from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. During Law School, Hanna was a small claims court mediator handling landlord/tenant dispute. She was also a member of the Trial Litigation Team and a Pro Bono Honors Award recipient for her work in Employment Law.

Hanna began her career representing applicants in both Workers’ Compensation and Social Security Disability Cases. After several years of acquiring valuable experience on the applicant’s side, Hanna joined Chou Law Group bringing her constructive insights to the table.

Born in England, Hanna enjoys a good cup of tea and all things British. She also spent a summer in Morocco studying Arabic. She has a fascination with dental offices, probably because she’s never gotten a cavity and likes her teeth cleaned. She is also an avid world traveler and enjoys yoga, hiking, and baking in her spare time.

DUNCAN COX, ATTORNEY

EXPERIENCE: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION DEFENSE

Duncan Cox graduated from University of La Verne in 2008 with a degree in sociology. At La Verne, he played 3 NCAA sports: water polo, swimming, and tennis. In 2012, Duncan earned his Juris Doctorate from Whittier Law School. During law school, he interned with a personal injury firm and a sports representation firm.

Shortly after graduating from law school, Duncan joined a boutique Workers’ Compensation defense firm in north Orange County. There, he represented self-insured, national employers in Workers’ Compensation claims throughout California, making appearances at every board in the state. Duncan is well versed in all aspects of Workers’ Compensation defense and has extensive experience taking depositions, cross-examining physicians, taking claims to trial, and negotiating settlements.

Duncan Joined Chou Law Group because he shares the firm’s commitment to providing high-quality representation in a timely and cost-effective manner. As the son of a businessman, he has seen first-hand how Workers’ Compensation fraud impacts the bottom line. With his clients’ interests always at the top of his mind, Duncan prioritizes handling cases aggressively and efficiently. He has gained a reputation for quickly evaluating a client’s exposure and rapidly resolving cases to save his clients the time and expense of litigation. Duncan has also successfully taken cases to trial when doing so was the most cost-effective option.

Duncan was born and raised in Orange County, Ca. He enjoys spending his free time outdoors, participating in CrossFit, playing golf, and surfing.

APRIL REMIGIO, ATTORNEY

EXPERIENCE: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION DEFENSE

April Remigio was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States when she was 2. She grew up on an Airforce Base in the central coast of California, working summers in the Airforce grounds and roads division. She was an accomplished tennis player in high school and graduated from UC Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

Between undergrad and law school, she worked for a lobby firm in Washington D.C., where she lobbied for West Coast fruit and nut growers on environmental and consumer issues.

April received her JD From Western State University College of Law. While in Law School, April was the Student Bar Association Vice President, The Asian Pacific American Law Student Association President, and an editor on the Law Review. She was also a judicial extern with the California Court of Appeal.

April is an experienced attorney who has dedicated her career to serving clients with integrity and a commitment to protecting their interests. She is especially adept in achieving case resolution through expeditious settlement or aggressive litigation. April’s experience also includes dismissals and successful trials before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board resulting in “take-nothing” rulings.

April believes that thorough communication and strong analytic skills are essential for a solid, efficient, and tailored defense of each client’s interests.

She is a self-proclaimed indoors-person, as her favorite activity is trying new foods and different restaurants. In her spare time, she enjoys all things relating to her young daughter and two cats. She is an avid fan of Nike sneakers, sushi, and the Los Angeles King’s.

MINH DO, ATTORNEY

EXPERIENCE: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION DEFENSE

Minh grew up in Vietnam, and had early experiences as a standout swimmer, winning
the championship in the butterfly at the national event.

At the age of 17, Minh immigrated from Vietnam to the United States with his mother
and older brother.  Two years later, he started his legal career by joining an Applicant’s
Attorney Workers’ Compensation law firm, as a hearing representative.

It was here that he discovered his passion and talent for the law.  While working full
time, he obtained his paralegal certificate from Santa Ana College.

He then joined Chou Law Group as a paralegal in 2015.  While continuing to work full
time as a paralegal, he continued his pursuit of education by completing his bachelor’s
degree in criminal justice from Cal State Fullerton in 2016.

Not satisfied, he attended Trinity Law School on a part-time basis, ultimately obtaining
his Juris Doctor in the Spring of 2023.  Shortly after, he became a member of the
California State Bar, and at the same time the newest attorney for the firm.

With a background in both Applicant’s and Defense Workers’ Compensation practice,
Minh possesses a unique perspective that enables him to resolve complex cases
efficiently.  His ability to understand and empathize with both sides of a dispute has been
instrumental in finding fair and equitable solutions.

In his free time, Minh finds solace in the outdoors, enjoying activities such as camping,
hiking, and snorkeling.  He also hosts teens and young adults in a local Lion Dancing
group, performing for the community during the holidays and special occasions.  He also
enjoys playing the guitar and piano.  He resides with his family in Orange County.

CONNIE CHOU, ATTORNEY

EXPERIENCE: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION DEFENSE

Connie was born in Taiwan and immigrated with her parents to the United States
when she was 8.  In 2000, She graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts
in Asian Studies.  Her interest in law developed in her college years when she
volunteered for a labor law group, assisting as an interpreter for monolingual
clients who encountered problems with employment.

Thereafter in 2003, Connie earned her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern
University School of Law in Los Angeles.  Prior to joining Chou Law Group, she
worked at a full-service legal law firm in the San Gabriel valley and specialized in
Federal bankruptcy law and real estate law.  With her fluency in Mandarin
Chinese and English, she feels beyond privileged to have the capacity to serve a
wide spectrum of clients.

Connie believes in putting her commitment to excellence in serving clients in the
field of Workers’ Compensation defense into real-life, persistent actions.
Through years of invaluable experience, she brings with her the ability to
communicate effectively and competency in moving a case swiftly from beginning
to finish, with the goal of optimizing benefits for her clients.

Other than being a dedicated attorney, Connie also utilizes her real estate
broker’s license in various real estate transactions.   In her free time, Connie
enjoys yoga, jogging, spending time with her family and 10-year-old son,
travelling, and reading.
